Doctors, gamers, and everyone in-between can now attempt to save the world from a series of pandemics in the new point-and-click Flash-based game The Great Flu, available for free on TheGreatFlu.com. Dutch researchers created the game in an attempt to give people a better idea of just what it is that groups like the World Health Organization do on a daily basis, trying to prevent the outbreak of scary viruses such as the H1N1 virus (better known as the “swine flu”).

Some say entirely story-driven web games are a myth, like Unicorns or Andy Dick, but they’re wrong. I’ve seen one with my own eyes. Neverending Light is one such game. It has no skill-based gameplay, strategy or puzzles, and as far as I can tell, you can’t even die. What it does have is a pretty cool plot, honest-to-goodness voice acting, and some spiffy lighting effects. For some reason, it reminded me of that old LucasArts classic, The Dig.
