[Review] Transformers: War for Cybertron

Games that cash in on recent movie success tend to be worse than the games that are based on the movies themselves. Television franchise games barely have a better record. For every Turtles in Time there are ten bland hack’n’slash wannabes. So with expectations at an all time low, I said to Transformers: War for Cybertron, “make my day.”

This should ease a bit of the hostility Playstation 3 owners carry (some would argue rightfully) against Valve and its lack of quality participation on the console as the company has announced that Portal 2 will get a PS3 release alongside PC/Mac and Xbox 360.

[Review] Lost Planet 2

I have never encountered a game as noncompliant as Lost Planet 2. With no internet connection present, I had to tell it repeatedly that I wanted to play a single player campaign at which point it asked me how many other people would be joining me. I get it Lost Planet 2, you’re intended as a cooperative experience, but your downfall is that you need more than one person playing at a time to consider you entertainment.

Obsidian Entertainment has been riding Bioware’s coat tails ever since they split off from Black Isle. A part of me thinks Bioware started doing original IPs just to watch Obsidian flounder. And flounder they have with this year’s titular choice-based, espionage RPG Alpha Protocol.

It’s hard to make a fun game set in the Wild West. The guns are inaccurate, there’s no body armor and your method of transportation needs to be fed and groomed. Luckily for us, Red Dead Redemption is a Western in motif only, sporting pinpoint accurate guns, enemies of scaling toughness and super horses.

Red Dead Redemption Carries Exclusive PS3 Content

Though we haven’t heard a peep out of Rockstar or Sony on the matter, owners of leaked copies of the upcoming sandbox action-adventure title Red Dead Redemption are reporting that the PS3 version carries two pieces of exclusive DLC not found in the Xbox 360 version.

SOCOM Cheater Receives Sentence for Crashing Sony Website

An unidentified 17-year old from Latrobe, Pennsylvania has been handed a sentence of 12 months probation, 250 hours of community service with an order to pay Sony Computer Entertainment $5,000 for his successful effort to crash the electronics and gaming titan’s website in November of 2008.
