The Hero of Time was a full-length independent film based on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It took a dedicated group of fans over four years to make, but Nintendo, being the cruel, ruthless corporation it is, had the film pulled from the interwebs for legal copyrightical reasons.

I’ve always stood behind Nintendo’s over-milking of their franchises. This is because they take each sequel seriously and change gameplay, plotlines, worlds and characters with every iteration. They see every title as a chance for improvement and innovation that just happens to have a built in audience. So I’m more than a little perplexed as to why they took the Wii as an opportunity to revisit the gaming dark ages.

While it does in fact seem that the country is (slowly) pulling out of its economic recession (especially with November’s successful release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2), we’re apparently not out of the woods yet. In fact, we may be looking at another double-digit drop. That’s not a good thing, but 2009 is widely regarded as an absolutely abysmal year in video game sales, so it’s not surprise. Luckily, all is not lost.

Nintendo has also put forth a release date for the New Super Mario Bros., arriving for the Wii Sunday, November 15.

You wouldn’t happen to have a Wii recharging station laying around, would you? You do? Oh, dear. Because if you’ve got a Nintendo Wii 4-Dock Recharge Station made by Psyclone Essentials or React, you may have a somewhat dangerous situation on your hands.

There have been pockets of controversy and argumentative discussion over the last couple days between myself and a number of friends, family, and colleagues. Pretty much every discussion has been about the final announcement and confirmation of Nintendo’s ‘help’ feature, and its inclusion in New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
Now, things are still rather hazy concerning what this feature exactly is. USA Today’s Game Hunters described it as something called ‘demo play,’ where when a player encounters a difficult portion of the level, they can pause the game, and have the CPU take over for a short time to continue the level, flawlessly surmounting every obstacle until the end of the level. If the player decides they wish to wrestle control back from the AI, they can press a button, and resume play from the point the the computer stopped. This point specifically is hazy based on this specific article.
