“The Birds and the Beedrills” is an almost five minute long amateur rap song about sex in which all the dirty words are replaced with Pokemon names. What’s really amazing is how they managed to work in every single one of the original 151 Pokemon.

I’ve always said sequels need to be able to stand on their own. I never thought that statement would force me to look on a game more favorably. Mario Galaxy 2 isn’t a startling reinvention of Mario, or even a significant improvement off its predecessor. But when the formula you have has been perfected like this, I wouldn’t change a thing either.

The Hero of Time was a full-length independent film based on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It took a dedicated group of fans over four years to make, but Nintendo, being the cruel, ruthless corporation it is, had the film pulled from the interwebs for legal copyrightical reasons.

I’ve always stood behind Nintendo’s over-milking of their franchises. This is because they take each sequel seriously and change gameplay, plotlines, worlds and characters with every iteration. They see every title as a chance for improvement and innovation that just happens to have a built in audience. So I’m more than a little perplexed as to why they took the Wii as an opportunity to revisit the gaming dark ages.

While it does in fact seem that the country is (slowly) pulling out of its economic recession (especially with November’s successful release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2), we’re apparently not out of the woods yet. In fact, we may be looking at another double-digit drop. That’s not a good thing, but 2009 is widely regarded as an absolutely abysmal year in video game sales, so it’s not surprise. Luckily, all is not lost.

See this bad boy? It’s now $50 cheaper. That’s right. The Nintendo Wii is now only $199.99 as of September 27, 2009. That’s not all! There are some new releases slated for the near future, too!
