Games I’m Looking Forward to in 2010!

Adam Bruno

lunaremkaepspg

With 2010 looming on the horizon, I can’t help but get a little excited. It’s a whole new year for video games, and – let’s face it, folks – this year kind of sucked. Sure, we had a few good releases here and there, but so many more games were canceled, and even several companies went belly-up.

Honestly, not the desired turnout. Luckily, next year’s looking a bit better, and I’ve got a list of games that I’ll be keeping an eye out for in 2010. Whether I plan on getting them or have simply liked what I saw, I’m hoping that they’ll turn out great. Feel free to comment on anything or even let me know which games you’re personally looking forward to. This goes for editors and visitors alike!

And so…my list! Keep in mind that the dates are tentative. How much do you wanna bet that half will be changed, and a quarter won’t even come out next year?

Square Reuses Race Concepts for Final Fantasy XIV

Adam Bruno

final-fantasy-xiv-race

So, I was humping the screen while looking at Final Fantasy XIV information the other day, when I happened across the races. And my, what a selection! There’s the human-like Hyur, the large, tough, hairy Roegadyn, the small and cute, but highly intelligent Taruta–ahem, I meant Lalafell. Waitaminute…these all look so familiar!

[Review] MMO Bites: Dungeon Fighter Online

Adam Bruno

DFO Slayer

Yes, I know Kenneth already reviewed DFO. But guess what? You’re getting a second opinion, and goddammit, you’re gonna sit there and like it! Also, eat your vegetables. Now, while I will be coming to Kenneth’s super cool Cool Person party (invited or not!), my opinion on the game differs somewhat.

New Features for Lord of the Rings Expansion

Adam Bruno

thering-430x267

Remember when Lord of the Rings won MMO of the Year in 2008? Okay, I vaguely do, but Turbine has announced an expansion, which only ramps up the awesomeness value. While it seems the expansion isn’t free like initially thought, Siege of Mirkwood looks like it’s going to deliver quite nicely. Let’s go over some of the new features, shall we?

[Review] MMO Bites: Warhammer Online

Adam Bruno

WAR 1

Howdy, folks!

Today, we’re going to be taking a look at the admittedly rather old (but much improved) Warhammer Online as it nears its 1-year anniversary. The Warhammer Fantasy (and Warhammer 40k) IP has had a lasting influence on the video games industry, inspiring several other notable products, so it’s interesting to see how the MMORPG version of the original turned out. Well, let’s not waste any more time; onto the review!

[Rant] Twilight MMO in Development

Adam Bruno

twighlight1-430x165

Let me start by saying that I love vampires. Vampires are awesome. I, like many other vampire lovers, have often wondered (dare I say fantasized) what it would be like to be a vampire. I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Blade, Underworld, and pretty much any vampire fiction you can think of. Except Twilight. I fucking hate Twilight. And now they’re getting an MMO.

What Does Final Fantasy XIV Need to Succeed?

Nayan R.

Despite Square Enix’s constant delays when it comes to the release of Final Fantasy XIII in both Japan and North America, there was no trepidaton at Sony’s press conference two days ago when Jack Tretton announced Final Fantasy XIV, much to the surprise of fans all over.

Ostensibly a sequel to the massively multiplayer online title Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy XIV is looking to be the second MMORPG in the series, but not more of the same. During the untelevised Q&A session that took place yesterday, Square Enix attendees made sure to point out that the title would be a step in a different directon from Final Fantasy XI.
