[Rant] Where Are the Droid RPGs?

Adam Bruno

motorola-droid-2

So, I got a Verizon Droid today. And let me tell you, I am frustrated as hell with this thing. It’s like thinking you’re going to be going on a date with the girl of your dreams, only to find that you’ll be spending the night cuddled up with her horny, unhygienic uncle.

Okay, maybe it’s not that bad. At least my ass isn’t sore from this one. I mean, Verizon is the top-performing carrier in the USA, and the Droid is still pretty new. So, I figured I’d give it a little bit of time and peruse the apps to see if I could download some time-killing RPG. And that’s when it happened.

[Interview] David Kalina of Tiger Style Games

Chris Burke

A few months ago we came across a surprising little iPhone game by the name of Spider. In it, you use your eight-legged-platforming-prowess to scale walls, spin webs, snack on bugs – y’know, the usual bad-ass spider stuff. I got a chance to talk with David Kalina, Co-Owner and  Lead Programmer at Tiger Style Games and an industry veteran (Splinter Cell, Deus Ex: Invisible War, Thief), about Spider and why he made the jump from big-budget studios to indie games.

[Review+Interview] Zen Bound for iPhones (Secret Exit)

Staff

Zen Bound from Secret Exit

Chris Benson: A while ago I wondered if the game Zen Bound, from developer Secret Exit, had a point. I had watched the gameplay footage and read the press releases, but I just couldn’t figure out what the hell the goal of the game was. I mean, obviously you wrap things up with rope. I got that part. But, why? And, to what end?

Then I got my review copy,  and interviewed Jani Kahrama and Jetro Lauha of Secret Exit. Now, I get it. The game does have goals and a challenge, but, ironically, that’s not really the point.

Read our reviews and interview after the jump.

Metal Gear Solid Touch for the iPhone Gets New Trailer

Chris Benson

MGS Touch

The first question I had when I heard Metal Gear Solid was coming to the iPhone was, “Huh?” followed closely by, “How will it play?” Well, now that we’ve gotten our first glimpse of MGST gameplay, I think I can say that while it certainly looks like Metal Gear Solid, after seeing the game in motion I’d say it has more in common with arcade light gun games, like the original Area 51.

Silent Hill: The Escape for iPhone

Chris Benson

silent_hill_the_escape

Konami just announced they’ve released  Silent Hill: The Escape for the iPhone. My first reaction is that it sounds like it will be as scary as listening to The Pit and the Pendulum on a See ‘n’ Say (The Pendulum says, “Whoosh!”). More details and vid after the jump.
