Back Talk: What Games Are You Looking Forward To?
| Chris Benson |
When E3 2009 coverage ended not that long ago, I was left in a very serious predicament. Like every year, I was inundated with way more must-have games than I will be able to afford. Which leaves me with no other option but to become an infamous jewel thief to make ends meet. The FBI agents attempting to track me down during my electrifying world-wide crime spree will dub me “The Koala,” because I’ll leave a single Eucalyptus leaf at the scene of every heist. Also, because I’ll dress like a Koala and make Koala noises while I steal shit.
There were so many games at E3 this year, I even made a list of the games I feel compelled to purchase. It’s not set in stone; I might scratch a game off for bad reviews, or because I hear that all the voice work is done by Kathy Griffin. Check my list out after the jump.
What Does Final Fantasy XIV Need to Succeed?

Despite Square Enix’s constant delays when it comes to the release of Final Fantasy XIII in both Japan and North America, there was no trepidaton at Sony’s press conference two days ago when Jack Tretton announced Final Fantasy XIV, much to the surprise of fans all over.
Ostensibly a sequel to the massively multiplayer online title Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy XIV is looking to be the second MMORPG in the series, but not more of the same. During the untelevised Q&A session that took place yesterday, Square Enix attendees made sure to point out that the title would be a step in a different directon from Final Fantasy XI.
[Rant] Why Final Fantasy XIV Is Stupid. Period.

All the lights are down. The streamers are falling off the walls, and the DJ has officially packed up his gear. E3 (a.k.a. “Prom” for this metaphor) is over. Now we’re all in the parking lot, going over all the events of the night. Remember that guy, who showed up drunk, jumped up on stage and air guitared the solo from AC/DC’s Back in Black ? That was good times…
Well, no it wasn’t, because right before that, he had just air-soloed Through the Fire and the Flames. So in retrospect, no, it was NOT good times. Square-Enix is “that guy” and they showed up to E3 drunk on their own pretentiousness.
