[Time Killer] Stealth Bastard: Tactical Espionage Arsehole

Posted under News, and Time Killer by Christian Martin on Saturday, November 5th, 2011 -

From the moment I read the title of Stealth Bastard, I knew I was going to play the game just out of principle. Fortunately, it doesn’t only have one of the best titles ever, it’s damn fun.

Stealth Bastard is a 2D side-scroller in which you sprint between shadows to avoid murderous robots and activate switches. Like N and N+, you complete each level by opening the exit then stepping through once it’s unlocked. It’s fast-paced and will kill you ruthlessly at the drop of a hat. The game’s web site describes it perfectly. “It’s like Metal Gear Solid and Super Meat Boy had a baby out of wedlock.”

The puzzles are surprisingly clever. They require some real thinking. You often need to manipulate the robots in a level to get where you need to go. Also, the music is fucking fantastic. Curve Studios, the creators of Fluidity and Explodemon, did a great job on this little gem.
