Comic-Con Spotlight: Capcom

Next, we come to Capcom. With such awesome titles as Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Dead Rising 2, there was a whole lot to see.

So, where to start? Let’s go with MVC 3. As you can see from the above pic, the gameplay looks fairly similar to its predecessor, but I can tell you from my hands-on demo that it’s received a bit of a tune-up. There are four attack buttons (weak, medium, strong, and fuck-off…err, fierce), and two partner buttons. Each combatant has at least three super moves, and you can string them together for maximum ass-whooping potential. The pic below shows that the graphics have also been greatly improved.

I mean, seriously. Look at those b–, I mean…that blast is awesome. In any case, this game is shaping up to be every bit as earth-shattering as Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

Okay, now look at me and tell me this screenshot isn’t awesome. Unlike the others, it came directly from Gamestop’s website, so you know it’s better than my crappy photography. In any case, Dead Rising 2 was freakin’ awesome. There’s nothing quite like sinking a spiked bat into a zombie’s brainpan to spice up your day. The graphics and gameplay were both stellar, and combining items into new and improved zombie-butchering tools was a total blast. The zombies did seem a bit TOO sluggish for my liking, even for zombies, but maybe it was on easy mode or something for the demo.

Note to self: Don’t eat the spoiled hamburger.

There were a few other games that caught my eye, such as Resident Evil 5 with the Move controller and Mega Man Universe. The former worked seamlessly and was incredibly accurate, and the latter looks extraordinarily badass, even for a fan of the series such as myself. I don’t want to jinx anything, but I’m definitely interested in what Capcom’s cooking for the fall and next year.

    Those boobs are so fake!

Also I really just want to watch Deadpool grabbing his health bar and beating his opponent with it…over and over (after winking at the player with hearts coming out of his eye holes).

Well, David accidentally used that move when the person who was demoing it for us was showcasing the different features. Poor David doesn’t know how to stay still…
