Final Fantasy XIII Prettier on PS3

Posted under News by Adam Bruno on Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 -

So, apparently Final Fantasy XIII’s suffering a bit when it comes to the 360 version. It’s not horrible, but there’s a definite quality difference in certain aspects of the graphics. See below for more info and a video!

Like I said, it’s not terrible, but there’s a definite difference in the quality of the cutscenes. I don’t mind it too much, although I’m still torn between buying it for the 360 and just ponying up for a PS3 since there are some other games I want for it, too. That being said, if you’re getting the 360 version, you’re not missing out on much.

I’m not surprised, honestly. The Playstation 3 is the technological leader here, but we knew that going in. They kind of deserve to have an edge here after their rocky launch. Sony should enjoy their advantage while they can. And besides, rumor has it that Microsoft’s already hard at work on their next next-gen.

I’ll try to cover that when it comes out.

I guess I was right to order the PS3 version then. But before that, I have to finish Mass Effect 2.

Really? I watched the vid, and unless they switched sides (more than the two times I saw labeled; the Japanese side was always the PS3, right?), I thought the 360 looked better–sharper colors, clearer contrast. Maybe it’s just me? I have girl vision after all.

FFXIII didn’t look all that great to me after I found out about the plot and gameplay, but I will say this: the music sounds pretty awesome so far!
