Halo Anime and Halo Waypoint Announced
| Christian Martin |

Plenty of juicy Halo-related news has come out of Comic Con so far. 343 Industries is a new division of Microsoft that is in charge of overseeing all products based on the Halo universe. Ex-Bungie employee and creator of Mister Chief, Frank O’Connor, is the Creative Director of the division and he announced their first two projects yesterday: Halo Legends and Halo Waypoint.
Halo Legends will be a series of seven anime short films created by some of the greatest anime studios out there. They’ll each be done in their own style and will cover different characters through different time periods in the Halo universe. Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait until 2010 to wrap your eyeballs around its brain-melting awesomeness.

Halo Waypoint will be a new Xbox Live channel launching this fall where fans will be able to get Halo podcasts, screenshots, and exclusive videos that they won’t be able to find anywhere else, including special peeks at Halo Legends. Halo Waypoint will also be the hub for a new “career system and player rankings tied to both in-game and out-of-game accomplishments related to Halo.”
Now, if all that news and those pretty pictures weren’t enough for you, check out the trailer for Halo Legends just released earlier today.

I am really looking forward to this. I love collaborations of all types. Animatrix, Batman, you name it. Every little bit shows off the diversity of the animators and is a smaller “fun” project to show off in addition to the usual season animes. Really glad that a ton of high name studios are participating.
