Back Talk: What Games Are You Looking Forward To?
| Chris Benson |

When E3 2009 coverage ended not that long ago, I was left in a very serious predicament. Like every year, I was inundated with way more must-have games than I will be able to afford. Which leaves me with no other option but to become an infamous jewel thief to make ends meet. The FBI agents attempting to track me down during my electrifying world-wide crime spree will dub me “The Koala,” because I’ll leave a single Eucalyptus leaf at the scene of every heist. Also, because I’ll dress like a Koala and make Koala noises while I steal shit.
There were so many games at E3 this year, I even made a list of the games I feel compelled to purchase. It’s not set in stone; I might scratch a game off for bad reviews, or because I hear that all the voice work is done by Kathy Griffin. Check my list out after the jump.
In no particular order:
Professor Layton and The Diabolical Box, The Last Time Travel, The Devil’s Flute, etc.
Left 4 Dead 2: The Overpriced Expansion (I kid)
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (Four player MGS action on the PSP!)
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
Ju-on (Another promising horror game on the Wii? I just might have to dust the ol’ console off)
Final Fantasy XIV (Because why not?)
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (One of the dumbest subtitles I’ve ever seen.)
Return to Mysterious Island (an iPhone game that doesn’t look like an iPhone game)
Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings (2 player coop on the PSP, plus the still-amazing Fate of Atlantis)
Now it’s your turn! What games did you add to your must-have games list after E3?

Two games that are now day-one purchases for me, thanks to their showing at E3, are Splinter Cell: Conviction and Brutal Legend. The awesome action in Conviction and the crazy, original way they project things onto walls to tell the story really impressed me. Regarding Brutal Legend, it’s not really the God of War-ish gameplay that attracts me, but it’s the setting of an awesome ancient world where magic and rock music collide. Combine that with Jack Black voicing the main character and I’m hooked.

Lemme see…broketastic me is most looking forward to FFXIII and FFXIV. I’m Squenix’s bitch. I’m also looking forward to some more stuff by Atlus and/or NIS. I’m cautiously optimistic for Star Wars: The Old Republic.
As for other genres, Brutal Legend is lookin’ pretty sexy, as is Indiana Jones; I played the original Fate of Atlantis, because I’m just that oldskool.
