During his keynote speech at GDC earlier today, Satoru Iwata revealed the newest portable Zelda title. Trains and trailers after the jump.

I don’t think anyone was expecting this. At least the previous title Phantom Hourglass based itself off of the Gamecube’s Wind Waker sea-faring mechanics. Trains are definitely a new addition to the series. Then again, sailing your boat in Phantom Hourglass was pretty much like driving a train. You just plotted your course and off you went. Only now instead of running over golden frogs you’ll be running over cattle.

I’ve always liked the Western vibe in places like Lon Lon Ranch, and trains are definitely an icon of the West. Who knows, maybe Spirit Tracks will let you pull off train heists! Okay, I’ve officially made myself excited for this game.
