No, I did not make this up. A poor, 80-year-old lady was held hostage in Brazil for ten hours with one of these babies.

A man broke  into an elderly woman’s house packing a “Light Phaser,” an old light gun for Sega’s Master System. He was supposedly there to settle some debt. I really feel bad for her, but I could not help but laugh when I first heard about this story.

I don’t blame her for cooperating. I’m sure she was scared out of her wits and I would be surprised if she even knew what a light gun was. What I don’t get is how the Brazilian police didn’t realize the thing was plastic after a ten hour standoff with the guy. Oh well, at least it ended peacefully with the perpetrator surrendering to the police with the hostage unharmed. Ironically, when he surrendered he revealed to the cops that he had some knives on him that were actually dangerous.
