I had a whole bunch of inauguration jokes planned, but at the last minute, I decided to just jump to the good stuff. Today, Ruffian Games opened for business. You may not have heard of them, but they’re a Scotland-based development studio run by several former technology developers for Crackdown. And they’re hiring. Apparently, a new game is also in the works.

Judging by the position requirements and various other scuttlebutt, this game’s going to be focused primarily on multiplayer action.

Oh, and minigames.

Apparently, one of their to-be-hired senior designers will be designing “challenging-yet-fun” in-game minigames, complete with rewards. I think more multiplayer games should have this. Heck, I know several MMOs that’d have more staying power with features like this.

No real details on the new game have emerged, but while the company’s new, the various team members have quite a track record. They’ve worked on such titles as Crackdown, Fable 2, Mortal Kombat, Grand Theft Auto, and Earthworm Jim 3D.

The game they’re making may not even be Crackdown related, but it’s got plenty of potential for greatness. Here’s hoping that good things come from Ruffian Studios.
